Problem Statement

PluggNation, a brand in need of a strategic repositioning and enhanced product concept, requires a comprehensive redesign to align its brand identity and product strategy with market demands. The challenge entails directing the design process to revitalize PluggNation's image and foster customer growth. With a compact and agile team of 12, comprising 2 designers and 4 developers, the task involves reconceptualizing the brand and product to resonate effectively with the target audience while addressing previous design shortcomings.

Design Process

Branding

I choose to go with a vibrant color palette for the brand but balanced out with soft tones. Burgundy was chosen as it has a luxurious, indulgent, aristocratic feeling of high class. Known to be used when designing for wine enthusiasts or connoisseurs of elegant living.

Research

I leveraged preexisting research done by the company and conducted 9 remote interviews with representative users to increase our knowledge of customer needs and behaviors.

Common pain points:

  • A need to filter events by music genre, happy hours, drink types and ambiance

  • Possibility to communicate with an event organizer or others attending an event

  • Too many details during sign up

  • Quick steps to purchase a ticket

Refelection

I had the honor of spearheading the design process for the Plugg app, overseeing everything from initial exploration to final execution. This included establishing a comprehensive design library and system. What's truly rewarding is collaborating with an exceptional team of talented individuals. Anticipated to launch by the third quarter of 2022, the app aims to revolutionize how users discover and engage with events and nightlife.
